Thanksgiving Leftovers

Thanksgiving usually leaves us with leftover turkey and the need to quickly DETOX before Christmas and Holiday parties creep up on us to scare us right out of our pants.

So scary that we can’t button our pants anymore but we don’t want to buy a bigger size just to get through the rest of our holiday parties.

To avoid any holiday weight gain, we need to eat mindfully.

But, if it’s too late for that after Thanksgiving, the next step is to detox with food so that you can burn fat faster and reduce inflammation from all the sugar.

This simple recipe I have for you today is going to help you start detoxing yesterday’s mistakes and help you avoid future ones.

Because when you detox with the right foods, you not only reduce that bloated weight of inflammation, but you start reducing your sugar cravings so that you just make better choices without even trying.

No cooking needed with this detoxing recipe because I know that the day or days after our “food commas” the last thing we want to do is cook.

Start this simple recipe with leftover turkey or even chicken will work.

Thanksgiving turkey “shout out” goes to my cousin.  It really is a blessing to have a talented butcher in the family!

Cabbage is Detoxing

We’ve all heard of the cabbage diet and yes, cabbage is highly detoxing.

Cabbage will help you lose weight but only eating mushy cabbage in warm water is not the answer or sustainable.

Apple Cider Vinegar helps your digestion and helps remove toxins from the body.

I get my apple cider vinegar for the best price here and even put in in my warm lemon water first thing in the morning and/or drink a small shot with meals, or in my cocktails!

If you are pressed for time, you can still enjoy this without marinating in the fridge.

But, the “quick pickling” does need at least 4 hours to overnight to marinate.

I use extra lettuce cups for my sliders so that we get more greens with our dinner and we can use our hands to eat these.

Remember, you can use leftover chicken in their recipe too.

I used turkey because I made these the day after Thanksgiving.

You can even put a lunch meat under this pickled cabbage topping and that would taste great.

  1. In an air tight container add first 6 ingredients (vinegar through cabbage). Mix in sea salt and freshly ground black pepper. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
  2. Layer shredded turkey and pickled veggies on butter lettuce leaves and serve.
